Warm the Children
The Old Saybrook Rotary Club took this program over from Mack Stewart, the founder of Warm the Children. We are proud to partner with the Pictorial Gazette to bring warm clothing to needy children of the shoreline area. The program is entirely funded through contributions by generous shoreline residents and 100% of the contributions are used to purchase winter clothing. The need is great in the Valley Shore - children will go cold this winter without your help. A list of the towns and contact information is provided below.
The Warm the Children Fund is neighbors helping neighbors and has been in existence for over 20 years. The Pictorial Gazette and Old Saybrook Rotary Foundation are asking readers to donate to the fund, and the proceeds will be used to buy new winter clothing for area children in need. There are no administrative fees; all the money donated is used to buy warm winter clothing.
Here's how the Warm the Children program works:
Our local social services agencies identify children in need. The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook has made arrangements with Wal-Mart in Old Saybrook where shoppers take families shopping for winter clothing (The shoppers are all local residents who volunteer their time - let us know if you'd like to be a shopper). Children ages 2 and under receive $40 and children ages over 2 receive $80 to spend on winter clothing. The shopper sends in the register receipt from Wal-Mart to the Old Saybrook Rotary Club which then pays Wal-Mart from the donations that have been made - it's that simple!
The coordinators for the Rotary Club are:

To volunteer as shoppers please email Richard Campbell: firstname.lastname@example.org
