Torchlight Parade

The annual Torchlight Parade (Torchlight Muster) is a town tradition for over 45 years. The parade consists of Fife & Drum Corps, bagpipers and others from all over the state and beyond (NY, PA) who take part in this event which was started by Bill Reid, a military historian from Westbrook. Torchlight Musters date back to the revolutionary war era when townspeople gathered and marched with candlelights. The Old Saybrook Rotary Club is proud to play a role in this time honored tradition unique to Old Saybrook. The parade begins at the top of Main St. (Colter St.) and ends at the Town Green where a welcoming tent stocked with hot chocolate and baked goods hosted by the Rotary Club awaits the parade paticipants.

Date of Event: December 13, 2014 6pm

Marty's Report:
Had a great turnout and this years donations exceeded previous years. We would like to thank the following businesses for donation baked goods for the participants and attendees.
Special thanks to the Estuary Council for Seniors who allowed us the use of their kitchen facilities for preparing the hot chocolate.
