Induction of New Members: Rick Beck, President Elect, inducted two members into the OS Rotary Club. Doug Wisner and Gene
were sponsored by Ken Roche.
District 7980 Rotary Foundation Presention: Foundation Area Rep., John Donnelly, described the organization of the Foundation
at the Club, District, and the National level. He also explained the types of grants, scholarships, and vocational training
available at the District and Global level.
Discussion: Rick Beck led a discussion about the financial situation that the Meals on Wheels program is currently facing. State
funding cutbacks are resulting in a $60,000.00 shortfall over the next two months. A plan of action will be developed by the
next meeting at which time the Club will vote on our level of participation and financial support.
Announcements: Dues must be paid by 9/1/16, Meals on Wheels - Doug and Raeleen, Bill McLaughlin informed us about a
newspaper article about David Wight and the Olympic Rowing Gold Medal he won in 1956. Brent updated us on this years golf
tournament and all of the changes. Golf teams must sign up by 8/31/16. Cost $175 per player. We need sponsors. This years
event will be held at the Lake of Isles Golf Course at Foxwoods.
