Rick reported that there have been discussions at the District level concerning the value/effectiveness of distributing
dictionaries to the third grade students. Our informal survey of teachers and principals concluded that this is
a valuable and worthwhile project and that it should be continued into the foreseeable future, OS Rotary will
     continue this tradition.
Pat volunteered to gather information about a meeting site for our evening meeting in May (5/31).
Gerri read thank you notes from The Dental Fund and from Old Saybrook's Youth and Family Services for our
     recent donations.

Program: Brian DeBlasiis

Brian has lived his entire life in Old Saybrook. He is a product of the Old Saybrook school system and took time

during his presentation to publicly thank "the best science teacher I ever had". After graduating from the University
of New Haven with a degree in criminal justice, Brian served as a dispatcher for the OSPD. After two years, he returned
to school and earned a law degree from Quinnipiac University and began working for the State of Connecticut. Budget cutbacks
were not kind to Brian. He may have lost his position with the State, but he is now working with a partner in private practice.
His present position allows him to pursue his favorite interest - litigation. Brian then lead a q&a session covering
job and educational opportunities, student loans, the value of a technical education, and a stong work ethic.
