Chamber of Commerce Art Show
This weekend the Chamber annual Art Show happens and we will be manning a tent, selling hot dogs, water, soda and snow cones to the attendees. Funds help with club expenses. Its a fairly involved undertaking - a truck is rented, a tent put up and for 2 days the booth is open for business from 10am to 4pm. Its a lot of fun! These 2 pictures of the set up crew was taken on Friday afternoon. Special thanks to Sharon Tiezzi for helping get the tent properly assembled!

Program: Steve Cryan

Steve is well known in these parts as an accomplished artist and collector. He is also very knowledegable about the shoreline commercial marine history as it pertains to tugs, ferries and other ships. Today, Steve gave a slide presentation of boats in our history going back to the turn of the century sharing stories and personal experiences as a youth, young adult to the present. He showed pictures of the Staten Island graveyard, the final resting place for the old ships and steam tugs owned by the railroads. The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle was a war prize from Germany after WWII. The Savin Rock Trolly, Queen Elizabeth II and the Union Pacific Big Boy - the largest steam train ever made were other items Steve displayed and talked about. Steve does portraits of boats for retiring captains. His rendering of the Cornfield Lightship which is currently docked in Delaware - decommissioned in 1957 is well known. Steve has had 7 galleries through the years. He created a spectacular model train set that goes on public display every now and then. He gave a shout out to Rick Beck for his impressive train set up. Steve will be taking a state room on the Queen Mary - a bucket list item for him. Everyone appreciated this great program - Steve will be invited back, he has much more to show and tell!
