Program:
Superintendent of Old Saybrook Schools, Jan Perruccio, gave a presentation about the proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year. Highlights included: Budget goals, budget planning, a five year budget history, the six areas of budget allocations, budget drivers, savings, new/updated costs, unknown items, and how to mitigate the impact of the budget. A Q&A period followed the presentation. Topics included: Budget increase over last year’s budget (0.65%), money from the State (greatly reduced or zero dollars), how the budget is linked to the district’s strategic plan and mission, and the difficult task of investigating regionalization of Westbrook and Old Saybrook Schools.
