     Happy Bucks:   Many for the students, parents, and educators, many for Bill McLaughlin, being invited to breakfast, people in the Florida Panhandle (Hurricane Michael), and the Red Sox.

Student of the Month: English - Superintendent of Schools, Jan Perruccio, introduced the students, teachers, and administrators from each school district.

  Old Saybrook High School: Sydney Lang was described by principal, Sheila Riffle, and English Teacher, Eddie Vautrain, as a quiet leader and a deep thinker. She is the editor of the school newspaper, The Rambler, and the literary publication, Musings. Sydney has a great work ethic as well as being dependable, thoughtful, and humble. She plans to major in the English field next year in college.

     Lyme/OldLyme High School: Katie Reid was described by assistant principal, Jeanne Manfredi, and English teacher, Courtney Baklik, as an honor student-athlete with an analytical mind. Her love of music and languages is evidence of her creative abilities. She is a member of the Eastern Regional Choir, has participated in all of the school’s musical productions, and is the captain of the volleyball team. Katie will be majoring in literature and writing next year.

     Westbrook High School:  Katie Wallace was described by principal, Tara Winch, and English teacher, Nancy Malafronte, as a leader who gets people involved. She is editor of the school newspaper and is involved with the theatrical productions. She has conquered her fear of public speaking and now does the morning announcements for the school, runs the eighth grade night, and is the student rep. on the Board of Education. Katie will be majoring in English next year.
