Announcements & general business:

Brian: There will be a board of directors meeting following the regular meeting next week.

More from Brian:
Now that we have lunch meetings, we need to get the word out. All those who could not consider joining Rotary because they couldn't make breakfast have been accommodated so spread the word! This should be talked about whenever a discussion to a potential member takes place. Also, we need programs for our luncheon meetings. The one program we had (our first luncheon meeting) saw a full room. By contrast, attendance for lunch has been low which seems to correlate programs or lack thereof so lets work on that.

Wine Tasting related: While we are all pleased with the event overall, there is always room for improvement. Accordingly a committee will be formed to discuss what went well and things that can be improved or addressed. The music was a definite plus and the auction checkout process was greatly streamlined. Charlie Norz suggested club members wear identification (not necessarily our badge) so that guests could easily know who to talk to if they had any questions about what we do or if a guest wanted to talk about joining.

Brian talked about the Art Gallery project at the town hall and the request to the club to join Eversouce in setting up and maintaining it. The gallery would feature local artists. Eversource will supply the fixtures. Down the line we may be providing for lighting needs. Susan Beckman, Old Saybrook Director of Economic Development is tentatively scheduled to attend our Feb. 20 meeting to discuss the plan.
