Happy Bucks:  Most were for the guests (parents, students, and educators), several for the beautiful morning and the New Year, several for the Rotary Old Saybrook and what the club does for the students and the entire community.

Program: Student of the Month for Science and Social Studies
Superintendent of Schools, Jan Perruccio, explained Rotary’s involvement with the Polio Plus international program. A donation, in each student’s name, will be made to this world wide effort. She then introduced the students of the month along with school administrators and faculty. Students were acknowledged for their academic achievements as well as their involvement in their school and community.

Lyme/Old Lyme:

                Science: Emily Speckhals – Will be majoring in Computer Science next year.

                Social Studies: Audrey Berry- Will be majoring in Education and plans on becoming a teacher.

Westbrook:

                Science: Jaclyn Grace – Will be majoring in Cellular Biology and Genetics.

                Social Studies: Ian Whitehouse - Plans to major in Political Science and to rescue our political system.

Old Saybrook:

                Science: Katie Henderson – Plans to major in Bio. Chemistry and Math.

                Social Studies: Cassidy Hallowell – Will be enrolled in the Nursing Program.

 

Announcements:

                 Remember to sign up for the Paul Harris dinner meeting to be held at the Old Lyme Country Club on January 22, 2020 at 6:00pm.

                The Town Hall Art Gallery will be dedicated on February 12, 2020. This display was made possible by the combined efforts of Eversource and the O.S. Rotary Club.

                The Legacy Project Committee announced that the Disk Golf proposal did not meet the Foundation’s requirement (educational, scientific, or charitable) and is therefore ineligible to receive the requested funds.

                Marty presented an update on the Wine Tasting/Auction Event on February 7, 2020. Sell tickets, get sponsors, and get auction items!
