PROGRAM

We welcome Mr. “Vin” Capece CEO of Middlesex Health, Middletown, CT.

Middlesex Health has worked hard to counter the misinformation and misunderstandings, and to dispel the fear that abounds around Covid-19. Stay home, or go out, go to the hospital or not go, staying away from the hospital has in some cases caused issues. Elective needs postponed has been good for some and bad for others.

Many small and mid-sized hospitals have had serious financial difficulties.  Middlesex Health is in good shape, well served by a very remarkable staff of competent employees.

Middlesex Health has 3,000 employees, with the main campus in Middletown, clinic’s in Westbrook & Marlboro, with urgent care facilities in Old Saybrook, Middletown, and Madison.

Hospital visits are in person 85% and telemet visits 15%. Emergency room visits are down 15%, and have been trending down for the past 15-20 years.

Issues during this crisis, ample supply of masks, gloves, gowns, and other safety related materials. Now have 1,000,000 masks on hand, many made by local volunteers. Much appreciated.

Mr. Capece explained that Middlesex Health is associated with “The Mayo Clinic”, Rochester, MN. This association provides the Middlesex Health with the vast resources of Mayo, both for doctors and nurses and very importantly for the patents. All now have the ability to ask for and receive a second opinion and tap into the many resources of Mayo.
