Bill McLaughlin: There is a Rotary membership seminar in New London Oct. 3. The Estuary wants to replace their old freezer which has been giving them problems. Cost of a new commercial freezer is $5,000 and he thought perhaps we could try for a matching grant from district. Soap donations (used bars) for Africa were requested of Saybrook Pt. Inn and Waters Edge.
David Wight read a letter of appreciation from scholarship winner Julia Nucci who is attending Northeastern U.
Bob Antoniac: A fundraiser by H.E.A.T. is taking place on Oct. 13 at firemans field. Dinner and comedy hour for $40 per person. Funds go to those who need help with their heat bills. Lets support this important fundraiser.

Treasurer's Report: David Wight
There was no activity in the foundation account. Investments are doing well.
The club budget is still not finalized due to the fact that President Keith's budget did not get a 2/3 vote which is required in the bylaws. Keith asked for suggestions to the dues structure and budget and today, Rick Beck presented his suggested budget. It called for dues staying the same at $150 annually and breakfast cost remaining at $11. His budget resulted in a surplus of $1,695 with a few conditions. One is that we limit the free breakfasts at our Student of the Month meetings to the student and 1 parent. Other guests would pay. Keith will analyze this budget and respond but in the meantime, dues will stay at $150. Keith said he has spoken to Marc (JAMSS owner) who will offer some alternatives.
Other topics included the need for new members. Sam suggested looking for newly retired people who may be looking to get involved and have more time. Donna spoke up about exploring the possibility of an evening meeting which could enhance membership. Most people she knows, don't like getting up early to go to meetings. Marty said he missed the evening meeting and felt it was more fun and the fellowship aspect of Rotary was better.
