We had another successful evening dinner meeting at Otter Cove.  Everyone gave it an "A plus," for food, service and especially the company!  There were 28 of us in attendance (including "Rotary Anns" and Rotary Andys").  Many of us were looking forward to seeing Matt Vogt....but he put it on his calendar for August 5th!  ...but don't you know, Matt, that there isn't 5 Wednesdays in August?*/:) raised eyebrows

Bill McLaughlin gave a report on funds raised for Sgt. Tupper and they've already raised thousands of dollars.  Our Rotary Club will be matching funds up to $5,000 which will come from our Community Outreach fund.  Thanks Stan for suggesting this.  The event at Fireman's Field is August 17th.  Bill encouraged those of us who could make it, to please go on down to Fireman's Field.  ...and by the way, Computer Signs donated the signs we put out at the Arts & Crafts show.

Last Wednesday morning, Rick Beck and I went to The Estuary for a "round table" in the event someone came that morning.  Well, you should have seen the look on Marilyn's face (one of the ladies in the kitchen) when she saw me.  She didn't realize that we were coming in for the round table and she damn near fainted dead away thinking that they had the wrong day for no breakfast*:) happy

Two weeks ago, the "White Water" students, Grant Patterson and Michael Schneider came in to thank us and gave us a report of their experiences.  They were eloquent, interesting, entertaining and held our attention for a half hour and I think they could have gone on forever about their life-changing experiences and we could have listened forever.  These are the future Rotarians who will change and save lives, folks.  Thank you Glen, for arranging to have them and their parents come in.

Our Rotary Food Booth at the Chamber's 50th Arts & Crafts Show was great fun.  Needless to say, there was yelling, spilling, boiling, eating and hawking of the "Coney Island" hotdogs and sno-cones.  Brent was his crotchety loveable self.  Sam's daughter and Jason's daughter & son sold the best and only sno-cones in the show!  Zoey (Glen's dog-best behaved) of course made an appearance as well.   To say the least, we had a lot of laughs...."together!"  We had fun with the Knights yelling back and forth and bartering for each other's food as well.  Brent gave a brief report at our dinner.  Bob Antoniac will give us a report on Wednesday of the bottom line.  Thanks, Bob, for chairing and organizing this eve and thank you, Gail, for making the chili.

August 10th, this coming Saturday, the Orange Club is having their annual Lobster Fest.  I will be going so if anyone wants to attend, let me know.  Twin Lobsters for $40.  Such a deal with lots of sides.  Orange is a great club and this event is lots of fun.

This week is our business meeting and I'll have copies of this year's budgets; Club and Foundation.  We don't have a program/speaker for August 14th, so if anyone can get a speaker, Bill McLaughlin would appreciate it if you would contact him. Thanks.  On August 21st, we will have Hunter Barnes: School Back Pack project; and on August 28th we will have author Nick Hahn talk about his book, "Under The Skin", a political thriller.  Thanks, Glen, for getting these speakers.

Thanks and see you Wednesday morning! g

P.S. Someone has a new "cut".....very youthful.....can you guess?
