A letter from our President:

Good morning and Happy New Year. Welcome back Rotarians that we haven't seen for awhile; Sam; Angus; Ed; Donna. Sam said he should come more often to be missed so much. I reminded him that if he did that, no one would say "glad to see Sam here"....*:-/ confused

What a great meeting this morning....such bright students and gracious families and administrators. Our Student of The Month meetings are truly one of the highlights of our month. Thanks Glen. Thank you Paul for so eloquently explaining to the students & educators about Polio Plus after being "put on the spot." I thought you handled that very well. So, thanks for that. *:-? thinking

It was good to get back to The Estuary with our wonderful food prepared by Stu, Kelli and Marilyn. Thanks ladies...it's good to be back! *:-h wave

A few weeks ago, I got a call from Evie, Al Lindquist's widow, and I visited with her. She is doing well and we talked about Al and what a great Rotarian and husband he was. She received another check for $100 in Al's name for the Rotary Foundation which she gave to me. We also received a donation today for Warm the Children. The generosity over these holidays has been amazing.

I don't know if you remember Juliette Bideau. She was one of our exchange students from France. John Donnelly told us this morning that he heard from her around the holidays and she is doing very well and sends her regards. Thanks for sharing, John.

After our SOM portion of the meeting was over today, Marty and I kicked off the Wine Tasting and auction. I just would like to say thanks to Bob Antoniac, even though he's leaving for Florida on Sunday, is going out to get a great auction item for us for the wine tasting. Thanks, Bob! ...not to mention that Brent hits him up every week for cards (even while he's gone)...know what I mean??!! We are a relentless bunch when it comes to supporting Rotary!!!! *=D> applause

WINE TASTING & AUCTION FEBRUARY 7TH...SAYBROOK POINT INN. Something different this year....we are adding $300 sponsorships which buys you: 4 tickets ($140 value); logo & ad in program and advertising at the wine tasting. You can't get advertising cheaper than that anywhere folks!!! Thank you Sam and Angus for stepping up before the words were out of my mouth. *;;) batting eyelashes

So, if you missed the meeting this week, there will be more of the same next week. You all got your lists of what you did last year and hopefully you can spread around the posters and go out and get some really great auction items. Maybe some new ones too?*;) winking

A big thank you to Lighthouse Printing for donating the tickets! Thanks, Diane.

Try to think outside of the box and be creative like a dinner for 6 or 8 and Rotarians/Interacters can serve, blah blah blah. Does anyone have a ski lodge they could donate for a weekend? Sports tickets? A cottage or time share.... Kindly bring your items and ideas to the meetings. I will take them home, log them in, decorate them, email back & forth w/ Marty for the program and pretty soon it will be a Wine Tasting!!!!!

Marty will take your ticket and sponsorship money. Please sell sell sell tickets and sponsorships.*'@^@||| dizzy..or maybe someone would like to make a donation to The Rotary Foundation. It's also important to get the posters up all over the shoreline. Thanks! I put one up at Rio Cafe this a.m. and got an auction item as well. The Estuary is putting up a poster as well.

Kindly remember to always copy Marty and myself on your emails with whatever you need that we can help you with.

Stan we're missing you and hope all is well with you and Emmy. Angus, thanks for doing Meals on Wheels tomorrow. Peter Anderson please get this email to your dad. We miss Andy too! and our best to Judy. Take care all....be well and be safe.
