Program: Pete Zucco, newest member gave a bio
Pete has been married to his wife Judy for 38 years. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Pete served in the Navy and under the GI bill received a college education at UMASS. Upon graduation, Pete worked as a pharmaceutical detail person calling on doctors promoting their drugs.
Pete went to work for Eaton, a small company that went thru several mergers. He took a job with Viral Pharma who made one drug that treated a condition called Hereditary Angio Edema (HAE), a debilitating disease caused by a missing factor in the blood called C1 immune inhibition factor. Without this, people are prone to extreme swelling in the extremities. Should the swelling encompass the airway, it could be life threatening. This drug made a big difference to people but the cost was high, $365,000 per year. Pete would help people with their insurance coverage. In Jan 2014 an Irish company bought them out and after some time off, opened Berkshire Hathaway in Old Saybrook, a real estate firm. Pete is still learning the ropes but is enjoying it.
