HAPPY BUCKS

Pete Zucco’s daughter will be a guest speaker at UConn, Paul Moran happy for successful “Pumpkin Patch”, Joan is happy that her husband is recuperating, David is happy that Bobbie is home, John is happy that his grandsons completed the NYC Marathon, many are happy for the success of the Turkey Drive.  Glen Anderson’s customers have contributed almost $500.00 to the Turkey Drive.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Charlie Norz – Dictionaries will be distributed to all third grade students in our three towns today. Updated the financial report of the Foundation.

District Luncheon was held on 11/2/14 in Branford. Glen Anderson, Rick Beck, Kathy Callinan, Bill O’Shaughnessy attended.

Rotary Old Saybrook became a 100% EREY Club.

Gerri reported on the progress of Outreach in the three towns.

Glen suggested that after the Turkey Drive, Happy Bucks should go to Youth and Family Services for the Christmas Gift Program.

RYLA Weekend, held at Camp Hazen, was attended by four students from Old Saybrook, and two students from Westbrook and Old Lyme.

Several club members participated in last week’s Business Expo hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.

This is World Interact Week.

John Donnelly updated the library project in Ghana funded by the $5000.00 International Global Grant. Project is shifting from supplying books to sending tablets, computers, and other technologies to the schools.

Bill McLaughlin announced that the $12,000.00 Acton Library computer project has been completed and that the dishwasher for the Heat and Eat Program will be installed soon.

PROGRAM

Marty and Gerri explained new procedures for this year’s Wine Tasting and Silent Auction. Members were encouraged to sell tickets and recruit sponsors. Tickets may also be purchased at Northeast Medical and the SeaSide Wine Shop. Check the website for forms. We netted $14,000.00 last year and hope to do better this year by getting an earlier start gathering sponsors and selling tickets.
