Announcements:
Bob Antoniac reported on the food booth at the Arts & Crafts show. We netted about $2650 (best year yet he thinks) and went thru about 900 hot dogs. Almost everything sold out. Bob has tabbed Matt Vogt and Charlie Renshaw to run it next year.

Glen reported that the club is getting a free listing in the Chamber of Commerce website thanks to Joe Arcari's nephew and god son. The listing will provide a link to our website.

Kathy: Dues are due, please pay by the end of September.

Matt Vogt inducted
Gerri Lewis did the honors, inducting Matt Vogt into the club. Matt is returning after a couple years absence and we are all happy he is back! Gerri did a great job talking about the ideals of Rotary and ending with the 4-way test. We can use some new blood as Brent said, so keep that in mind - bringing in new members is important to the future of the club.

Business Items
Glen talked about the recent problems we had getting host families for the Youth Exchange Program (YEP). As you know, the club sponsored a student from Westbrook to travel and live for 10 months in Columbia. To reciprocate, it is understood that we in turn provide a host family for an incoming exchange student. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a host family. A discussion ensued concerning the problems encountered. It seems that while we committed to the district, we did not get the commitment necessary from the high school and board of education (Westbrook). District has relocated the student but this will cost the club $850 in fees from the district plus the student stipend of $100/month for 10 months or $1,000. There is some question on the district YEP protocols and communication was lacking as the club president (Bill O'Shaughnessy at the time) was not kept in the loop. David Wolf is the district coordinator for the YEP and John Donnelly was the club coordinator. This is a learning experience and several suggestions were forwarded by Glen:
    1. The school needs to be 100% behind the YEP
    2. The outgoing student should be involved in helping secure a host family
    3. All communications with district should include the club president as an extra set of eyes to see it through.

Pete Zucco, our club treasurer, talked about some changes he'll be making. Kathy and Pete have reconciled our checking account back to last October. Pete will be keeping photo records of all transactions including checks, receipts, etc. From now on, no check will be issued without a receipt.

Meals on Wheels: Bob Antoniac

Amber: On Aug. 15, the Interact Club will be participating in Beach Cleanup Day at Hammonasett State Park. It goes from 10AM to 3PM. Adult supervision is needed and Amber is asking for 4-5 volunteers. Please contact Amber.
