OS Rotary Meeting 12/16/15

The following is from Gerri Lewis:

Good morning all. Last night, our Christmas party was the best!  ....and interesting to say the least.  When I got to Luigi's, and Joe arrived about the same time, Lenny was mortified to tell me that what was happening in the bar was not what he thought.  There was about 35-40 (mostly) guys celebrating the retirement of a CL&P employee.  It was noisy and crowded!  Of course, we were on the other side. They were slowly encroaching on our small area. I, of course, told Lenny that it was Christmas and in the grand scheme of things it was OK and that most of our guys couldn't hear anyway! (I say that lovingly guys). Then Brent walked in and complained of no parking places and what the hell was going on....Then Jan comes in and isn't staying, but hasn't eaten all day, so I had to make a deal with the noisy CL&P crowd so that they would give me a piece of pizza for her. So, the CL&P crowd was dwindling (but still noisy) and guys doing their thing...slapping each other on the back, calling each other by pet names....you know how guys do that stuff. Then Lenny got up on a chair (because even when he is standing you still can't see him) to basically say "stay on your own side" to the CL&P guys....which everyone applauded him and just continued doing what they were doing. So, we are starting our meeting.  Lenny was supposed to steal the flag from upstairs where the Exchange Club was having their party, but forgot, so we pledged the upstairs flag while looking up. Joan Beck won the card game....little did she know that she was going to be very happy (bucks).....Our food was absolutely delicious as always....So now it's time for the grab bag; everyone already picked a number ....the way it's played (right or wrong) is that number 1 picks a gift and opens it.  When it is number 2's turn, they pick a gift and either open it or trade it for a gift that has already been opened...and so it goes.  I know this sounds confusing.....I'm confused myself! BUT...the popular gift was the NUTCRACKER....and a certain someone wanted it!!  First Sandy Miller got it; it got stolen away from her by Charlie Renshaw and then it got stolen away from him by Sandy Taylor.  So, in the end, number 1 gets to either keep his gift or choose any gift he wants from anyone he wants.  Jean Michaud was number 1 and he chose to "exchange" his bottle of wine for the wine won by Jan Peruccio.  and....that "certain someone" whose initials are BT got the Nutcracker in the end. We laughed a lot!!!

So, there is no meeting next week, December 23rd, and I hope whomever has meals on wheels today, remembers!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS...SEE YOU ON DECEMBER 30TH..WE WILL BE SWEARING IN OUR NEW MEMBERS!
