Program: Student of the Month; Music & Performing Arts and World Language

     Jan Perruccio welcomed everyone and introduced the students, teachers, and administrators.

Music & Performing Arts:

Old Saybrook High School: Ella Brady
Assistant Principal, Mr. Plotkin and teacher, Mr. Milton described Ella as a student with an incredible work ethic. “She will not stop trying to get better.” Ella has written and published her own play while serving as the Drama Club’s president and volunteering at youth summer camps. She will be attending Conn College in the Fall majoring in Theater and Art. 

Lyme/Old Lyme High School: Lucas McMillian
Assistant Principal, Ms. Manfredi, and teacher, Mr. Wilson, described Lucas as a student who has a passion and a focus for the Arts particularly the technical aspects of the performing arts. He has served as the technical guru for all of the Drama Department’s musicals and plays. Lucas is also on the crew, tennis, and fencing teams. In his spare time, Lucas is on the Mock Trial Team. He plans on attending the Berklee College of Music in the Fall.
Westbrook High School: Cadance Acobbo
Principal, Ms. Winch, and teacher, Ms. Hourihan, described Cadance as a student full of energy and creativity. She is a fantastic student who is an “advocate for the underdog”. She has recently participated in an engineering at Electric Boat where she developed a skill in welding.

World Language:

Westbrook High School: Ashley Holt
Principal, Ms. Winch, and teacher, Ms. Ferro, described Ashley as a student who exemplifies Service Above Self. She was recognized for her perseverance on the tennis court as well as in the classroom. Through hard work and incredible drive her conversational Spanish is “impeccable”. She demonstrated this ability by addressing our group in Spanish.

Old Saybrook High School: Ryan Lombardi
Assistant Principal, Mr. Plotkin, noted that Ryan was also the Student of the Month for Social Studies earlier this year. Ryan has taken many AP courses and has earned the highest class average in several of them. He participates in Band and is a valuable member of the stage crew. Ryan has been studying French since Kindergarten but plans on attending college for Business and Economics.

Lyme/Old Lyme High School: Grace Zembruski
Ms. Manfredi described Grace as a very enthusiastic student who “learns for the sake of learning”. She is a student leader involved with the softball and basketball teams. She has completed 5 AP courses and teaches sailing during the Summer. Grace has studied Latin since the sixth grade but is undecided on her major at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Announcements:

     Wine Tasting Event: Marty provided an update and reviewed several work assignments and new procedures. Set up crew should meet at the Point on 4/12 at 10:00am to organize and decorate.

     Shred Day: 4/20 - Sixteen volunteers are needed. Contact John or he will contact you.

     Rotary Day of Service:  5/18 at the VFW. Work projects will be assigned in the near future.

     Macaroni Dinner: 10/20 at Clark Field. Reservation has been confirmed.

     TriState District Conference to be held 5/3 – 5/5 in Southbridge, MA. See Nancy for more information

Next meeting: 4/10 at The Estuary at 7:00am. Speaker will be Brittany Czajkowski from VISTA.
