"Centennial Connections Crossing the Connecticut River"
Program given by Ed Mosca and Tedd Levy of the Old Saybrook Historical Society.  OSHS is planning a celebration of for the 100th Anniversary of the opening of the original Baldwin Bridge, August 24, 1911. The plank bridge replaced the ferry. On the date, 100 years ago approximately 500 cars joined a parade and drove across the bridge, Old Saybrook to Old Lyme and back. There were only about 15,000 autos registered in Connecticut in 1911 so they had a great turn out for the occasion
Plans are to have an antique auto parade from Old Saybrook to Old Lyme and back followed by a luncheon at Dock & Dine and a display of the autos at The Point. All to take place Wednesday August 24, 2011.  10:00 A M to 2:00 P M.
OSHS is looking to The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook for help registering the autos and with parking the day of the event.
Should be a wonderful event.
