INDUCTION   President Nancy Morin

Nancy introduced the two (2) new members inducted: Amy Matusisk-Dhaher and David Plotkin.

Amy has three children, two grandchildren, and enjoys traveling. David has three children. He began as an 8th grade teacher in Old Saybrook and is now the Associate Principal, Old Saybrook High School.

Nancy formally inducted Amy and David as new members of Rotary. An organization of 1.2 million members some 33,000 Rotary Clubs. The new members were urged to attend meetings regularly and to become actively involved in Club programs.

Amy and David thanked everyone for the opportunity to become a member of Rotary. All warm welcome to a standing ovation.

PRESIDENTS REPORT   Nancy Morin

1.)       E R E Y   (Every Rotarian Every Year)
EREY is a source of Rotary International funds. This money is held by Rotary International for three years and is then returned to the District’s and then to the Club’s in the form of managed grant money. The goal is to have every member give a minimum of $25.00 every year to The Rotary International Foundation.    Nancy reviewed in detail how this can be done. Access Rotary International’s website sign in click donate and fill in the blanks. Easy

2.)      Committee Action Plans   Nancy Morin - Every committee will have an action plan with the objectives and plans for implementation.

3.)      Branford Non-Traditional Scholarship Program - Plan is to investigate how our local Community College would handle this type of program and report to the Club.

4.)      Student of the Month - Next Wednesday October 9th Saybrook Point Resort & Marina register to attend. A head count needed - let Nancy know if plan to attend.

5.)       Liberty Bank Turkey Drive All money from Happy Bucks will go to the drive. Our money collected will be given to Meals on Wheels. Liberty Banks matches funds $0.25 on the dollar.

6.)      Club Budget  Kathy Callinan
Income $12,090, Expenses $7,696  (Note: $128/month storage unit)

7.)      Foundation Budget  Kathy Callinan
$103,530 Income, $10,546 to checking, $93,993 to expend.

8.)      Thank you notes from the Old Saybrook Fire Department and The Greater Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce for our donation.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

1.)  Walk to End Alzheimer’s - Martha Rothchild
Walk successful and raised $1,100, the club is contributing another $500

2.)  Art & Craft Show - Jan Perruccio
Event first weekend in October Sat October 5th and Sunday October 6th. Set up booth Friday evening October 4th. A sign-up sheet available for volunteers to fill time slots for Saturday & Sunday

3.)  Outreach - Tara Winch
Began with $17,000
Donations:
Laliberte Electric $975 for work to the VFW Hall, Old Saybrook Fire Department 100th anniversary $250, Alzheimer’s Walk $500, Banner Miracle League $750, District 7980 CT Disaster relief $500.
End with $14,500

4.)  Website - Marty Drobiarz
Marty urged everyone to check the website committees to make sure all the information is correct and current. Committee assignments are found in the Membership Directory

5.)  Macaroni Dinner - John Aforismo
Dinner is Sunday October 20,2024, ticket sales are strong.
Banners are going up today.
