Program:  Assistant DG Gerri introduced our DG Colin Gershon.

DG Colin thanked Gerri for her help as Ass't DG.  He.is a member and past president
of the New Haven Rotary Club.  He is originally from Shelter Island, L.I.  He's in the
process of finishing up his annual visitations, our being number 52 out of 59.  He's doing
the closest to home last, (the best).  He indicated our district has the most clubs and
Interact Clubs of any other district in New England.  DG Colin has been very active in
Rotary having already attended 3 International Conventions.  He highly encourages all
Rotarians to consider attending one.  The next will be in Montreal, our own back yard,
the 3rd week in June 2010.  Greg Mortenson, the author of "3 Cups of Tea" will be a
main speaker.  This is the fellow that spent many months in Afganistan and wrote very
candidly on the conditions there.  At one of the International Conferences he heard Bill
Gates when he made his initial gift of $100 million for Polio eradication.  He's since upped
that to $350 million.  DG Colin also mentioned the District Leadership Institute being
held in New Haven on October 31st from 8 to 2.  See Keith for details.  Another program
he mentiioned were Club Visioning Seminars to help clubs establish long range goals
and objectives.  Another seminar being held in Madison is on Club PR, October 16th.
His last plug was for all clubs to consider doing something "Green" on "Make a Difference
Day", or whenever the opportunity permits.  Something to think about.  His closing remarks
were to infrom us of our District Conference in Burlington, VT coming up next spring.
