Business Meeting:
John Donnelly conducted a budget review of the Foundation and Club budgets. There was
much discussion about the Foundation assets due to the financial situation most of the
country is in today. It was stated that the value of the assets 1 1/2 years ago was
approximately $623K, now it sits at an estimated $507K. The 7% rule was also
discussed. This being to limit spending to only 7% of the fund assets in any given year.
The theory being this limitation should carry us through both good times and bad. Bill
McLaughlin reminded the club to focus on the good the Foundation dollars provide. He
would like us to keep a positive view on this. The Foundation board will be meeting in
the near future to determine a course of action on these issue.
President Bob left us with a closing note that he recieved a letter from the Attorney
General's office about a donation to the O.S. Roatary Club in 2002. He cautioned
members to be prudent if called the the AG's office. You might end up in court
testifying about this issue. No one seemed to be able to identify what this donation
might be.
