Andy Anderson: Commended Larry Freundlich for obtaining a $20,000 grant for a program held at Camp Hazen for 8th graders moving on to high school. It was a chance for the kids to get to know each other and bond as a class. It was for 2 days and 1 night and received lots of positive comments.
Bob Chase: We need members to step up and become officers and board members. If interested, please talk to Bob who is in charge of the nominating committee.

Special Event:

Program: Charlie Norz
Charlie spoke of the Dictionary Project which our club has been doing for several years now. It is extremely popular with the local 3rd grade teachers. This is part of a No. Carolina national program and is taking off with over a million dictionaries distributed annually. The dictionaries cost $1.70 each for a total of $700 for 400 books. Please let Charlie know if you'd like to be part of the team that distributes the dictionaries - its fun and rewarding. Here is the schedule:
Thursday, Oct. 11 - Old Saybrook Schools
    Friday, Oct. 12 - Lyme-Old Lyme Schools
    TBD, Westbrook
Following Charlies talk, we broke down into groups and applied stickers to the books which tells where they came from and a line for the student to enter their name.
