Founded in 1980, LVVS is a nonprofit organization committed to helping individuals lear to read, write and speak English. Their mission is to enable people to communicate and therefore function in our society. Volunteers are needed for tutoring and thats one of many ways you can get involved. You can also help as a volunteer and help by interviewing prospective students, assisting with office activities, serving on the Board of Directors, promoting public relations and coordinating fund-raising activities. Another way to help is by making a contribution. Tom's grandfather was an immigrant who arrived in this country via Ellis Island in the early 1900's. He was one of the first to fly a plane, a model made in France that competed with the Wright Bros. patented plane.
