Announcements:
John Donnelly: The Interact Club Bood Fair starts today at the Middle School. Anyone who can is asked to help man the tables as some of the Interact kids have mastery tests going on. A sign-up sheet was passed around.
Charlie Norz: The Foundation Board met last night to discuss the state of our investments and the budget. Of course, we all know our investment accounts are down and the value of our portfolio has decreased by over 30% from last October. Our biggest fundraiser, the golf tournament, is coming up May 21 and it is important that we have a successful event in order to avoid spending principal from the investments. With this economy, that will be a task. Based on our committments, Charlie anticipates we will have to move about $30K from our portfolio to make ends meet. A Foundation Board meeting is planned for May 26, right after the tournament. Bill Suits pointed out that the goal for the Foundation was to get the principal to the point that the interest would cover the scholarships. We may have to re-evaluate our spending philosophy to keep from drawing down the principal. Brent said that the Board has set a spending policy of 5-7% of the principal.
Brent: The golf tournament is May 21 - same venue, same price. Brent will talk to the golf course and ask for price concessions given the circumstances. Golfers pay for the tournament, sponsorships provide the profit and therefore Foundation income. We pledge a minimum of 120 golfers.
Marty: The tournament forms are available on this website. Go to CLUB ACTIVITIES/Golf Tournament
