Program: Tom Cloutier introduced Ed Domnarski
A former member of the club and Treasurer for a number of years, Ed reminiced about his years in the club and talked about his children. His daughter is a grad student at Uniion College and his son is living in NYC pursuing a  career in music.
Ed then went on to talk about his work as a judge and the judicial system He handles civil cases in the New Britain court and averages one trial, mostly jury trials, per month.  Ed has a good record in terms of pre-trial hearings and getting settlements before they go to trial. Last month, Ed was reappointed for another 8 year term.
There has been a strategic plan to make the court system more open, to enhance services and improve public trust. More than 800 trends have been identified that can fall into 5 categories. Committees have been formed to address the items so categorized. There is always the issue of media involvement and weighing the publics right to know vs. fair coverage than won't prejudice a trial. There is a new and improved website, www.jud.ct.gov. You can see pending civil and criminal cases, defendents names as far back as 1999. Ed was impressed with how much information is available on the internet and this website is another example of that.
