PAUL HARRIS FELLOW AWARD: BILL SUITS (SAPPHIRE)
On this special evening, a special member of the club was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow. Since this is the second time for Bill, this award is designated a Sapphire Award. This is only the 4th time a Sapphire has been awarded in our club's history. Bill truly loves being in Rotary and has always been very active. He is currently chairman of the new Outreach Program, a committee that provides assistance to many people in many different ways. Bill is the perfect head of this committee - he's a guy with a very big heart.
Through the years, Bill has influenced the club especially in his year as President 1992-1993. We changed from being an evening club to a breakfast club and was instrumental in getting our most important fundraiser, the golf tournament, started. Our biggest fundraiser at that time was the community auction held on Thanksgiving weekend and anyone who worked at the auction can be thankful for the change! Bill helps liven up the meetings with his wit - always a story to tell and never running out of material. Bill had a lot of family (wife Carol, sons Michael and Peter, daughter Barbara and 2 grandchilden) in attendance and it was a great night. Gerri read a letter from Bill Suits Jr. who lives in California and could not attend. Being in Rotary with Bill Suits is one of the really great things about belonging to Rotary.
