Charley Norz reviewed the Rotary Foundation budget for Rotary year 2009-2010.
He also indicated that the committee is talking to 3 professional advisors to
assist in the investment and management of the Foundation funds. A selection
will be made in the near future. One item agreed to by all that funds withdrawn
from the investment portfolios should not exceed 5% in any given year to insure
the integrity of the fund capital. Each item in the budget was reviewed and
discussed by Charlie. Comments were made that the "Warm the Children"
project served 119 families in the Old Saybrook area including 245 children.
Another item was the "Amber Alert" program being adopted by the O.S. Police
Dept. A contenious item was the elimination of the "White Water Conference"
funding that the club has done for many years. Much discussion was made
that it should be re-instated and it was suggested that the budget could be
discussed, and funds reallocated to cut programs if the body of the club so
decides. A final note was that Charley will be stepping down as Foundation
Chair and Bob Hester will be the new Chair. The club expresssed it's
appreciation to Charlie for a job well done in touch economic times. Our best
wishes to incoming Chair, Bob Hester.
