We were treated to a short talk by Lindsay Ernst following the program. Lindsay was a Spanish major who spent time in Peru as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. She attended the University of Lima and helped develop a business model for job creation there. She went on to attend Fordham Law and is now an attorney.

Program: Bob Czepiel, Katherine Hepburn Cultural Center
The building is just about completed and ready to go, in fact the first production is scheduled for Sept. 6. There will be an open house from 4pm to 6pm. There are 33 events scheduled to the end of November with many planned for September and October. There will be a variety of offerings including music, simulcasting of the Metropolitan Opera, simulcast live lectures by the likes of Henry Kissinger and much more. The interior is spectacular taking many of the original features of the building and enhancing them. One area has marble floors, the main seating area, restored maple hardwood that was brought back to life. The sound system is first quality at a cost of $250K. Seat rows can be removed for cabaret night to make room for dancing. There are no bad seats in the house with a capacity of 250 people. The building was built in 1911 - the town has invested $4.5 million in its renovation. The capital campaign goal is $1.7 million and is just $10K short. Bob made a plea to the club to close the campaign with a contribution. The ticket office opens in August and a new $25K computer system was installed.
