Happy Bucks:
     Andy for beating out 2 people in poker game.  Bills Suits had 2 jokes (one to be continued next week), David Wight is now a great grandfather,  Peter Manley for winning hand and many for Bill Suits being back again.

Announcements:
     Bill McLaughlin agreed to head up the 'Student of the Month' programs.Joan Camire stated that our 9/30 meeting will be a dinner meeting, probably at the Pavilion. Marty indicated that both the Club budget and the Foundation budget are on the club website.
     Bill O'Shaughnessy indicated that the incoming GSE team is from Australia. Carroll Bowser recommended the River Quest river tour for the swallow watch.

New Member:
  Bill McLaughlin did the honors of bringing Carroll Bowser into the Club.

Program:   John Donnelley introduced our World Affairs Conference attendees who were,Ian Graham from OS, Megan Devlin from Old Lyme and Aaron Domraw from Westbrook.The theme of the conference was World Hunger and Poverty.  There were students from all over the world who attended seminars and workshops conducted by some very notable authors and speakers.  Sessions were also held on established a country's public policy and how different scenarios would play out. (Ian's group won).  Some of the comments the students made were:

Ian:   He enjoyed the Public Policy simulations especially since his team won.
Megan Devlin:   Stated she got a much better understanding about economics and public policy as it relates to hunger within the country.  She also enjoyed meeting theparticipants from all over the world and particularly her room foreign room mate.
Aaron Domraw:    Enjoyed the simulations and strategic planning.  Also exploring the communications issues in developing counties and what the world actually knowsabout what is going on there. A general comment of the group was that the foreign students had a much
better understanding of world issues than the U.S. students.
